Timothy won the Hartley-Merrill National Screenwriting Prize 2004,
for his screenplay,
Surf & Bhoondi.
The
Hartley Merrill screenwriting prize celebrates supporting screenwriters
from around the world and fostering interaction between international
writers.Founded by Ted Hartley, head of RKO Pictures and his actress
wife, Dina Merrill. Other founding members include Lord Putham and
Robert Redford.

16 Nov.1860 the 1st. batch of Indian indentured labour arrived in
South Africa on SS Truro. Coolie no.1 is recorded in the list of
the Truro as a 30 yrs.Christian man named Davarum. SHIP

The DAVARUM Award is to honour the offsprings of these first settlers
who have contributed to community development of the great commision
of Church in South Africa and an encouragement to continue it with
the generations that follow. Dr. Gabriel Naidoo in his book calls
them, 'Pioneers of Destiny'. Eubulus Timothy was the recipient of
this prestigious award in 2003 for his contribution to the South
African Indian Community.
